Commonly known as Hens and Chicks, these plants are Succulents because they store water in their leaves. There are many varieties of Hens and Chicks ranging in color from lime green to burgundy to purple. They also range in size from ½ of an inch to 5-inches in diameter. The plants produce offsets that grow beside them and then detach. After about four years they will send a flower stalk up 5- to 15-inches, flower and then die. By then the plant has produced many off shoots. Hens and Chicks are highly deer resistant and drought tolerant. Our BTN mix has a wide assortment of sizes and colors and is highly ornamental. It will produce small pink flowers in June (rather than the death stalks).
